Hi, I’m Sarah, the baker behind The Cupcake Cottage.

What started as baking in the kitchen with my grandmother, my Mima, has grown into something so much bigger than I ever imagined. Those early memories of measuring, mixing, and making something from scratch are still at the heart of everything I create today.

Before this, I spent years working in recruiting and HR, but after becoming a mom, I felt pulled toward something different. I wanted to build something of my own. Something slower, more meaningful, and rooted in home. That is how The Cupcake Cottage began.

Now, as a stay-at-home mama of two girls, I bake from my home kitchen in Greenwood, Indiana, creating small batch desserts with intention and care. Every recipe is made from scratch using real ingredients. Everything I make is always dye free and now seed oil free, with gluten friendly, dairy free, and egg free options available so more families can enjoy something sweet without worry.

I believe you should be able to celebrate and enjoy dessert without questioning what is in it. My goal is to bring back that nostalgic, homemade feel while using ingredients you can feel good about serving your own family.

Over time, this has grown into more than just baking. I now share what I have learned with other cottage bakers through my Facebook group, The Buttercream Society, where I teach dye free baking, buttercream techniques, and the why behind how it all works. It has become a space to learn, grow, and build confidence in creating beautiful, intentional bakes at home.
